Improving transcription accuracy

Learn how to get the most accurate transcriptions from Scribbes.

Audio Quality Matters

The better your audio quality, the better your transcription:

  • Use a good microphone: Built-in laptop mics work, but external USB mics are better
  • Reduce background noise: Close windows, turn off fans, find a quiet space
  • Check your levels: Not too loud (distortion) or too quiet (hard to hear)

Speaking Clearly

Pronunciation:

  • Enunciate words clearly
  • Don't mumble or slur words
  • Speak at a moderate pace
  • Pause between sentences

Accent considerations:

  • Scribbes works with all accents
  • Speak naturally - don't force an accent
  • The AI learns from context

Technical Tips

Audio format:

  • MP3, WAV, M4A all work well
  • Higher bitrate = better quality
  • 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rate recommended

Recording length:

  • Shorter recordings process faster
  • Break long content into chunks
  • 15-minute segments are optimal

Common Issues

Problem: Names are wrong

  • Solution: Spell out unusual names first time

Problem: Technical terms incorrect

  • Solution: Speak them slowly and clearly

Problem: Punctuation missing

  • Solution: Use voice commands ("period", "comma")

Pro Tips

  1. Do a test recording first
  2. Review and adjust before long recordings
  3. Use a consistent setup
  4. Edit after transcription for perfection
